"You can't make this %&#! up!"

This is a phrase often used to describe racism experienced while working in financial services. AWD collects these anonymous, candid stories by providing our members a safe space to simply vent.  Employers seeking to learn more about real challenges black wholesalers face in the workplace may contact AWD at info@diversityinwholesaling.org to begin an honest conversation about building a truly diverse, inclusive and accessible future for black wholesalers and aspiring black wholesalers.

Training your Boss: Being passed up for promotion

"It was the 6th time I was passed up for the promotion and had to train the new (non-Black) hire; who then failed, quit, and in some cases, were fired!"

By sharing accounts of hiring bias (the tendency to not choose candidates who look like you), we believe employers will see how drastically inequity can hinder a firm's success. It keeps less-qualified & poor-performing individuals in positions & deprives qualified diverse candidates opportunities to help firms thrive.

Context: One AWD Member was fired after she saw a firm executive take a junior employee into a hotel room for no discernable business reason.
